Our Chief Purohit

śhamo damas tapaḥ śhauchaṁ kṣhāntir ārjavam eva cha jñānaṁ vijñānam āstikyaṁ brahma-karma svabhāva-jam

Tranquility, restraint, austerity, purity, patience, integrity, knowledge, wisdom, and belief in a hereafter—these are the intrinsic qualities of work for Brahmins. The above verse 42 of Chapter 18 from Bhagavad-Gita is a very clear diction from Lord Krishna Himself on what a Brahmin should live like.

Our Cheif Purohit, Pandit Premaraja Shivam tirelessly attempts to live by the above discipline.

Born to a Brahmin family, his life principles were guided by the heritage that he carries. His father Shivashri Chandrashekara Shivacharyar has been instrumental in paving way in inculcating the practices of a purohits life to young Premaraja Shivam.

He was trained at Gurukula learning system at Sri Durga Parameshwari Shivagama Patashala and completed his Vedic and Shivagama studies. He was trained and mentored at Madras Sanskrit College, under dedicated learned Vedic teachers, exposing him to Vedic traditions, chiselling him to turn up as a knowledgeable vedic pandit in time. He was awarded with the title “Veda Shivagama Ratnakaram” post the completion of his course.

Pandit Premaraja exhibits strong competencies and potential of :

Vedic and Shastriya knowledge which he transcribes into simplicity, thereby making it understandable. Along with this, his unique style of bringing out interesting fables and anecdotes right out of our sacred hindu scriptures commands our interest in his teachings.

A Shaivite by origin, he hails from the Kashmiri and South Indian Shaivgama tradition and an ardent devotee of Lord Muruga.

He comfortably converses and administers his ritual with fluent narration and translation in Sanskrit, Tamil and English , with moderate fluency in Telugu and Hindi.
